This Privacy Policy describes how SkinLock ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects your personal data when you use our mobile application ("App").

2. What Data We Collect

SkinLock was designed with privacy as a priority. We only collect minimal data:

Locally stored data (only on your device):

  • Your skincare routine settings and preferences
  • Streak and progress data
  • App blocking preferences (selected apps to lock)
  • Selfie photos for progress tracking (stored locally only)
  • Onboarding choices (age group, skin type, routine level)
  • App settings and notification preferences

This data is stored exclusively on your device using iOS local storage and App Groups. It is never transmitted to our servers.

Screen Time & Family Controls data:

  • SkinLock uses Apple's Screen Time API (Family Controls, Managed Settings, and Device Activity frameworks) to block and unblock apps you select.
  • We do not access, collect, or store any information about which apps you use or how long you use them.
  • The app blocking functionality is managed entirely on-device by Apple's frameworks. We only receive the app tokens you explicitly select — these tokens are opaque and cannot be used to identify specific apps.

Anonymous usage analytics:

  • General app usage statistics (e.g., which features are used, onboarding completion)
  • Crash reports to improve app stability

This data is collected via PostHog (hosted in the EU) and is anonymised. It cannot be traced back to you personally. No personal information, app usage data, or Screen Time data is included in analytics.

For Premium subscriptions:

  • Payment processing is handled exclusively by Apple via the App Store. We have no access to your payment data, credit card information, or Apple ID.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use the collected data exclusively for:

  • Providing and personalising app features
  • Improving app stability and user experience
  • Anonymous analysis for app development

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or transfer your personal data to third parties. The only exception is anonymised analytics data processed by our analytics service (PostHog, EU-hosted), which adheres to strict privacy guidelines and is GDPR-compliant. No Screen Time data, app usage data, or personal information is ever shared.

5. Data Security

Your personal data is stored exclusively locally on your device and protected by iOS security mechanisms, including App Group sandboxing and iOS data protection. We have no access to this data. Photos taken within the app remain on your device and are never uploaded.

6. Your Rights

You have the following rights regarding your data:

  • Deletion: You can delete all app data at any time by uninstalling the app.
  • Access: Since all personal data is only stored locally, you have full access to it at all times.
  • Withdrawal: You can stop all data collection at any time by uninstalling the app. To request the deletion of any anonymised analytics data, contact us at hello@skinlock.app.

7. Screen Time API Compliance

SkinLock uses Apple's Family Controls framework solely to help you build consistent skincare habits by temporarily blocking apps you choose. We comply with Apple's guidelines for Screen Time API usage. The app does not monitor, track, or report your device activity. You can revoke Screen Time permissions at any time in your device settings.

8. Children

Our App is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the new Privacy Policy in the App.
